John Behles

John Behles is an accomplished attorney with 20 years of success in the legal industry, specializing in intellectual property law and specifically in patent law. He is a registered patent practitioner and possess a technical degree in mechanical engineering with specific experience in protecting a wide array of mechanical inventions including but not limited to LED lighting and control systems, automotive, medical devices including orthopedic devices and implants, dental products, sporting goods, aquaculture, farm equipment, hydraulics, oil and gas, three dimensional filters, algae-based biofuel processing systems, and assorted optic and laser technologies. He also has extensive experience with computer hardware and software inventions such as data encryption and tokenization, bitcoin, blockchain, Internet-of-Things, intrusion detection and data privacy, telecommunications, AI (various types of machine learning and neural networks), cloud computing, remote backup systems, three dimensional gaming, machine translation, content management, database management, processor architectures, and document coding – just to name a few.
He has extensive experience in counseling clients with respect to subject matter eligibility, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications in order to comply with the rigorous and ever-changing standards of 35 U.S.C. 101.
He prepares comprehensive and detailed patent freedom-to-operate and non-infringement opinions, and has experience with re-examination, appeals, and accelerated patent examination processes. He is also experienced in negotiating and licensing for a wide array of technologies.
Mr. Behles also has experience in patent litigation, having second chair experience in trial and pretrial litigation for patent and trademark enforcement, including researching and drafting dispositive motions. He also has conducted extensive infringement analyses for litigation support.
