INVENTION DATE

The best proof of your “invention date” is to maintain detailed documentation of your invention in a secure location. Examples of detailed documentation to prove your invention date include an inventor’s notebook, computer dated files, signed and dated documents and the like.  It should be noted that mailing yourself the invention documents in a sealed envelope is not considered a proper way to insure your invention date.
